Fall Traditions

I’m so happy you are here and checking out this list of the Top 5 Ways To Use Essential Oils This Fall! I absolutely LOVE this time of year! Fall is my favorite season. There is so much to be thankful for.

Fall is a whole vibe. The air is crisp and cool, the leaves are changing into a beautiful canvas of color, the smell of baked goods and delicious comfort foods fill our homes, warm blankets, football, movie nights, and spending quality time with loved ones.

This is a great time of year to get started with essential oils if you haven’t already. I’m all about those yummy scents this time of year. But instead of running to your local candle shop, you could try using essential oils instead.

Essential oils are a more natural option and better for the environment. There’s a variety of wonderful scents you can mix and match to create your own Fall scents and they even help to purify the air in your home or work space. That’s a win win win! Not to mention all the additional benefits they have that I’ll be referencing below.

Why use Essential oils?

As an essential oils user, I’m always looking for ways to incorporate them into my life. What better way than to come up with this list of my favorite ways to use them this time of year. Essential oils are so much more than wonderful scents! If you didn’t know that, you’re about to.

Essential oils are not only used to fill your home with great scents, but they can also be helpful for your overall health and wellness. They can help keep your immune system strong, balance your emotions, and the list goes on!

***NOTE: I should mention I only use Young Living Essential Oils. There is a whole list of reasons why I chose this brand after a lot of research. Here’s just a few:

-Young Living oils are beyond organic (meaning their standards are higher than those of the FDA for something to be organic)

-100% essential oils in every bottle (Many claim to be, but keep reading to learn more)

-they are pure and therapeutic grade

-the company is transparent about how their oils are derived and you can visit their farms and learn all about how they use sustainable farming practices

-I love all of the good things they do through the D. Gary Young Foundation (Young Living Foundation) to help people around the world

That’s just to name a few! Many of the oils you find on Amazon or in other health stores are only required to have 5% essential oil in them to be sold to the public. The rest can be whatever they want (even if it says 100% oil). That means fillers, synthetic ingredients, chemicals etc. You have to do your research.

Here’s some more information on Young Living’s Seed to Seal Guarantee: LINK. Also check out their website to find all the information about the company, farms, mission, and foundation. You can find that HERE.

Avoid these things

When buying Essential Oils, here are the RED FLAGS to look for:

1) Super low prices. Real essential oils aren’t cheap. Think of it like organic foods. They aren’t the cheapest either. The price for quality may be higher, but it’s worth the investment for your health and wellness. The amount of time it takes to farm organically and sustainably is what you pay for.

2) If the essential oil company you are buying from doesn’t have their own website with information on how to contact them via telephone, info on their farms, how they grow their plants, derive their oils etc, chances are they don’t know what’s in their bottles. I don’t know about you, but I want that guarantee.

3) Essential oils sold on Amazon/Health stores. Like I mentioned above, they are only required to have 5% essential oil in their bottles to be sold. The rest can be whatever they want. That could be chemicals, fillers or synthetic fragrances. No thanks!

4) No transparency. Call the company and ask questions. Ask if you can visit their farms, do they give tours, etc. Most of the time they will say they don’t own their farms and don’t give tours. Young Living does! Just sayin.

5) Essential oils that smell like the candles you’ve always known. A lot of the holiday candle scents we are used to are sometimes synthetic smells. Meaning they add chemicals to the scent to make them smell even better. Real essential oils actually smell a little earthy….because they are made from plants. Haha! Not that the smells are all bad with oils…more like some will smell different than what you’ve always known (the extra flowery/sweet/fruity smells).

Research, research, research

These synthetic fragrances are chemicals that can effect your body in many different ways. Some people who have allergies, asthma, or other issues find these things get better when switching from candles to diffusing just essential oils. Again, make sure you know they are 100% oils! All you have to do is google what synthetic ingredients and chemicals can do to your body if you want more information.

Top 5 ways to use essential oils this fall

Now that you know what to look for, here are my Top 5 Ways To Use Essential Oils This Fall:

1) CLEANING

Essential oils are so great to have around for cleaning purposes. Lemon alone will clean sticky surfaces, remove stains or remove sharpie marks from anywhere you may have it in your home (Yes, that happened recently and it worked for me).

I also use the Thieves Cleaning line from Young Living and it is AMAZING! All natural, derived from plants so it is safe to use, and it also contains those wonderful essential oils. The Thieves oil is in all of these products. Thieves blend contains: Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Rosemary, Lemon, and Eucalyptus Radiata. It smells so good!

I’ve used these products to clean every surface in my home, and also to remove stains from clothes and even carpet. I use their dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, hand soap and laundry soap. Follow me on social media HERE to stay up to date on all of my DIY recipes too!

If you join my team with Young Living, you are provided with even more tips/recipes on using this cleaning line. For more information about joining my team and to start your journey with clean living, check out this post HERE.

2) DIFFUSING

By now you already know the main way people use essential oils is by diffusing them. This just means water and essential oils are added to the diffuser and it releases them into the air via water vapor. This not only makes your home or office smell nice, but it purifies the air.

There are also oils to help balance your emotions and strengthen your immune system. One way to do that is just by breathing them in. That’s something candles alone can’t do. Pretty cool! I’ll share some great Fall Diffuser Recipes at the end of this list.

3) WELLNESS

There are a lot of ways essential oils can support your wellness. Certain oils are known to be great for supporting your immune system, digestive system, and overall health.

The top ones I use are lemon or any citrus fruit, and also blends like Thieves (yes, that is the same essential oil in the cleaning products which means just using them can support your immune system), Digize (for digestive support), Raven (for respiratory support), and Panaway (applies topically for sore muscles and joints).

Frankincense is another one I love using to for skin and immune support. That’s just to name a few! If you have any further questions about which oil to choose, feel free to send me a DM on Instagram (@motivate.educate.repeat) and I’ll get back to you ASAP. I’m always happy to help!

Here are a few must haves to support your Wellness this Fall:

*Make a roller to support your wellness everyday: Add 10 drops Thieves oil + 10 drops Lemon oil and 5 drops Frankincense oil to a 10ml glass bottle with roller top. Fill the rest with a carrier oil like Coconut or Almond oil. Shake to blend. Apply every day on the bottoms of both feet and also to the lower spine. The key with oils is consistency. Do it everyday!

*For those times you are already not feeling well, you can also apply this roller above to your neck area in addition to your feet and spine. Be sure to use your roller multiple times a day to assist in the healing process.

*Make wellness tea when you feel something coming on: Add 1 drop Thieves Vitality and 1 drop Lemon Vitality to a glass mug of hot water. Add honey to desired sweetness. Drink 1-2 cups a day when you aren’t feeling well.

***NOTE: I only ingest the Vitality Line of essential oils by Young Living. They are made from things you would already eat like fruits, herbs and spices. This is obviously a personal choice. All of the information about Vitality Oils is found on their website.

*Enjoy Ningxia Red daily: Ningxia is a superfood supplement drink rich in antioxidants that is designed to energize, fortify and revitalize the body and mind. This blend is made up of a Wolf berry purée (also known as Goji berries), pure essential oils, and other super fruits. Add one packet Ningxia to the sparking water of your choice and add ice. I love the Bubly sparking water in strawberry or grapefruit best. Enjoy!

I use a drop of lemon in my water everyday, use my wellness roller, and enjoy Ningxia in the afternoons. This is the main way I use essential oils to support my immune system all year round.

Additionally I use vitamins and a great probiotic by Young Living called Life 9. These are important supplements to take to support your gut health and overall immunity.

4) BAKING

Essential oils are great to add flavor when baking. Just be sure to only use the Vitality Oils from Young Living. Baking is one of my absolute favorite Fall things to do! Now you can get creative in the kitchen and experiment with the addition of these natural flavors.

-You can add 1 drop Peppermint to your brownies for Peppermint Brownies.

-A drop of any of the Vitality Oils made from spices like Cinnamon, Clove and Nutmeg can be added to anything (muffins, pie, coffee cake etc) to give a pumpkin spice flavor.

-You can even add lemon, orange or lavender oils to cookies (sugar or shortbread) for some fun flavors. The list is endless! Such a fun way to enjoy baking this Fall!

5) EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

Did you know essential oils can help support your emotions? Certain smells can effect the hypothalamus in the brain (the control center where you make decisions from). You can diffuse them or apply them topically. Making a roller is one of the easiest ways to use them. Just apply to your wrists, back of neck, lower spine or on the bottom of your feet.

The molecules in essential oils are highly concentrated. They are so tiny that when we apply to the skin, the oil is absorbed immediately and gets to work. Within 22 seconds the molecules have reached our brain, within 2 minutes they can be found in the bloodstream, and within 20 minutes they have affected every cell in our body. Pretty amazing!

Some of my favorite oils for emotional support are Frankincense (grounding), Lavender (relaxing), Citrus Fresh and Peppermint (both are energizing). I also love blends like Joy (happy), Stress Away (vacation in a bottle), Valor (bravery), and Peace and Calming (relaxing).

Tree oils like Northern Lights Black Spruce and Idaho Blue Spruce and two of my favorites to use. These are really high frequency oils that can  support your energy, focus and positive thinking. Not sure why high-frequencies matter? All you have to do is Google “High frequency and essential oils” to find out more.

Short answer is the higher the frequency of something the better. Everything in life has a frequency and moves on a vibrational level. You, me, the plants, the chair you’re sitting on…..EVERYTHING.

Things that aren’t good for you like smoking and different illnesses etc are very low in frequency. The more you can incorporate higher frequencies into your life the better for your overall well-being. It’s so fascinating to check out the research on this topic.

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! THIS ARTICLE! I am a huge advocate for EO’s they’re lifesavers in my family and for my family. I really love the education you’re sharing here because I think people often go after the EO’s that are not authentic and end up being disappointed in their lack of effect. Watered down EO’s are misleading & for those who don’t use them often don’t realize that the effects are in how much actual plant is in that little bottle they’re holding. So thank you for being a preacher of good word!
